ENSURE moves towards digital learning resources, gamification and Training Hubsiunie 3, 2026
Following the completion of the ENSURE Course Programme, the project is now moving further into the development of the tools and infrastructure that will support emergency responder training across Europe.
The next phase of Work Package 3 focuses on transforming the course structure into practical learning resources and digital training environments. This includes the creation of Open Educational Resources, the development of the ENSURE Virtual Learning Environment, and the integration of gamified learning through the ENSURE Game.
These tools are designed to support flexible and practice-oriented learning for first responders, firefighters, trainers and emergency response organisations. The project’s digital learning approach will allow participants to engage with scenario-based training content linked to real operational challenges, including earthquake response and extended forest fire operations.
ENSURE is also preparing the establishment of Training Hubs, which will complement the digital learning environment with practical equipment and hands-on training capacity. The planned hubs are intended to support the use of technologies such as aerial and terrestrial drones, AR/VR equipment, thermal imaging tools, wearable GPS devices and biometric monitors.
Together, the digital platform, Open Educational Resources, game-based learning and Training Hubs will help ENSURE move from curriculum design to practical training delivery, supporting the project’s wider goal of strengthening preparedness, resilience and innovation among emergency responders.
